If it rained you went home no such thing as 'wet time' in those days.

A ladies bathing beach no men permitted. Talk bout a Mrs Grundays worled wasn't in it. When the Pier was being built the ladies got moved to the less favourable pier beach, but kept away from the smelly codner by Salthouse.

Came upon a photo I had forgotten I had.
The old British School on the corner in Chapel Hill.
I didn't go there they had opened the new senior school in Highdale Avenue.

I got this one when I bought some pix of The Arches many years ago.
Very interesting shot but a pity he had not used a wide angle lens and got the front of the forge in as well.
Must have been a long exposure because his 'model' is holding fast to the gate post to stop any movement.

Knowles & Cos had a wagon and cart building and repairing in Old Street.
Must have kept them pretty  busy by the look of it.
 

This barber shop was once part of W H Smith's shop. The right hand side hence the wall at right angles between the magazines etc and the odds and sods.
Smiths was in Station Road near the butchers until the two shops where it is now were made into one then they moved.

I must pass on a load of pix. Best way is to post them here.
An old farm here it was built up and rood tiled but kept many of the old parts, including a great down hearth.
I thought I had pictures of that but can't find them at the moment.
Now demolished and beneath a place of learning at Kenmoor school..
